When we started on this 1964 Plymouth Valiant, it got nicknamed "Stinkbug"
(not by me). It was called this because of its shape and the aroma it had aquired after years of mouse housing. Now
this car fought us on everything we tried to do to it. I've been doing this for 25 years or so and I personally
believe that there's more to machines than metal and paint, so I spent one evening with the car and a couple of beverages
(insert 12 beers and a few shots of whiskey here) and I learned that the car hated being called "Stinkbug". His
real name was Bruce... thats all, just Bruce. He had wanted to be a V-8 4spd Barracuda, not a slant six 3spd Valiant.
He dealt with that ... but he was not about to be called "Stinkbug". From that point on, he was called
Bruce and things changed dramatically. No more fighting us on every nut and bolt, it was eerie. Now I know
some of you will say: Johnny you've been in the garage too long or the excessive amount of starting fluid you seem
to go through isn't all going in the carburetors, but thats what happened. So, do I know too much
or nothing at all? now where did I leave my crayons, and will you kids get off my lawn!
Don't call me Stinkbug!
