Summer Chamber Music Concert
Series/Festival
Now in its thirteenth season at Fryeburg Academy,
the International Musical Arts Institute is a summer community of musicians who
range from young professionals and career-bound advanced-level conservatory students to established artists with international
reputations. Since our first season in 1997, more than two hundred musicians, both aspiring young talents and seasoned professionals,
have come from five continents to the Academy’s campus in Fryeburg,
Maine, to make music together, to perform, to study and perfect their art.
The IMAI Summer 2009 Chamber Music Festival includes:
“Music for summer evenings”
At Bion Cram Library, Fryeburg Academy,
Fryeburg, ME - 7:30 p.m.
A series of concerts presented by IMAI's resident artist/participants at the Bion Cram Library of Fryeburg Academy
(air conditioned and fully handicapped-accessible - parking accessed from Bradley
Street). Our concerts take place Wednesday, Thursday,
Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m. for four weeks beginning Wednesday, July 8, through Saturday, August 1.

Spanning more than 60 years of the last century, music of Max Reger, Ernst Bloch, and Alfred
Schnitke, along with the Quartet for Piano and String (1950) by American favorite Aaron Copland.

the cusp of the 19th and 20th centuries, including:
Anton Webern’s early work, Quintet for Strings and Piano (1907), Ernest Chausson’s Piano Quartet in A Major, Op. 30 (1897) and Bela Bartok’s String Quartet
No. 2, Op. 17 (1896).

close, behind-the-scene rehearsals, master classes, discussions, special presentations...all that goes into making music at
