Orchid 41.1 m

Preliminary Specifications

I Introduction.

The Orchid 41.1 m is a unique high-speed multi-mission vessel based on a technically advanced catamaran hull form that provides hydrodynamic lift, thus ensuring the safety of the crew and ship during high-speed operations. For high speed, the Orchid is powered by the thrust of two turbofan engines eliminating the reduction gear and water jets commonly found on high speed boats. Traditional designs are subject to a violent and dangerous pitch over when the hulls penetrate a wave. The Orchid is optimized for high speed and shallow draft operation by the use of light weight turbofan engines with thrust vectoring for high speed and fuel efficient diesels for lower (less than 35 knots) speed operations.

As an all-weather high speed interceptor, the missions within the Orchid's capabilities include:

Customs and Excise

Police Vessel

Anti-Piracy Interceptor

Drug Runner Interceptor

Offshore Patrol

A variety of armament options are available, which can easily be accommodated on the large working area aft of the spacious main cabin and operations compartment. The large after deck can accomodate a variety of helicopters depending on the mission.
