The US, acting upon information supplied by British Intelligence, prosecutes freedom fighters from India and the German consul general in San Francisco for conspiring to overthrow the British Empire in India

The events are seen through the eyes of American socialist Agnes Smedley, for whom it is a political awakening.

Taraknath Das photographed in the Leavenworth Federal prison at the start of his 22 month sentence. The German Consul and vice-Consul received 24 months each and two other Indians were sentenced to over a year in federal prison.
