- Keep the following supplies handy for packing: Boxes, marking pen, bubble wrap, newspaper and tissue
- Pack boxes so that they are full, if boxes are heavy but still have space fill the top part with sutffed
animals, towels or other light but bulky items
- Use strong boxes and containers that can be secured tightly. Purchase special boxes for dishes, wardrobe
and other special items if possible
- Pack audio-video equipment in their original boxes. Label cables and tighten transit screws. If removing
screws, tape them to the objects they are removed from.
- Pack books tightly on end in small boxes. If musty smelling, sprinkle talcum powder between the pages
and wrap the book before packing. Leave stored for a couple of months to eliminate the smell.
- Having some rope on hand to tie down items in the truck or to the roof or an SUV is not always necessary
but can often be helpful
- Tip your mover for a job well done. We have no mandatory tipping, however let everyday ettiquette
be your guide. See the link with independent information on tipping the movers.

- Pack books in small boxes whenever possible. Your mover will love you for it.
- Avoid loading more than 50 pounds into one box.
- Label each box and indicate the following: (a) Which room it should go in (b) Whether it is fragile
(c) If it should be loaded last so it will be unloaded first.
- Cushion contents with packing material such as bubble wrap, newspaper or tissue. Save room by using
towels and blankets to wrap fragile items.
- Rent Packing blankets from your rental truck company or have a good supply of old blankets on hand
to prevent wood and other furniture from being scuffed or damaged. We want to take excellent care of your stuff, so
help us help you.
- When possible offer your mover a cold beverage. No matter how hard the move, when you show
your mover you care, the more willing they are to go that extra mile, even when the hour grows late and energy runs low.
