The Computer Associates sponsored Trade Show called CA World needed a spectacular but ‘fun’ centerpiece which had ties to the client’s software products. The answer was the ‘A-mazing Brain’. An environment constructed around a walled maze comprising hard walls, mirrors, doors and plexiglass with three ‘Decision Point’ areas within which computers asked questions of the participants whose answers determined the door that opened and their route thereafter. The maze was rigged with receivers which ‘read’ transmitted signals from pre-programmed buttons worn by the participants and both communicated with them and scored their progress through the maze. The maze, and all of its associated equipment, was constructed in the New Orleans Convention Center in April 2000.
