Jetpig's Tale

jetpig

Jetpig was one of the early pioneers in Turbine-based flight propulsion systems. His contributions with early Ramjets as well as Rocket technology are well-known only to his few, surviving close friends. In his day, he was a regular participant in the thrall of aviation activities that marked the earlier part of the twentieth century, but was soft-spoken about his own accomplishments, and was often overlooked, either on that account, or due to his modest stature, or even, sadly, to some perceptions of the 'misfortune' of his parentage.

Nonetheless, Jetpig took little notice of such shallow objections, and sought out those who shared his passions for the promise of 'Us Ground Critters giving these birds a decent run for it', as he was known to utter, in a fair imitation of Mr. Tracy, the farmer who had raised him, and graciously allowed an abandoned ponystall to become Jetpig's first, modest research lab at the old farm near Pride's Crossing, Massachusetts.

Suidae lifespans being what they are, it can only be assumed that Jetpig has been dead for many years. However, of those records that can be found of his very productive and active life, no mention either of his demise, a gravesite or even any progeny ever turn up. Naturally, with such charismatic and colorful characters, particularly, it seems, from the Golden Age of Flight, there are some who insist that he is still out there, inventing, flying, dreaming. This chronicler finds it sufficient to continue those wonderful activities himself, to the extent that he remains able, and not spend too much time watching the skies for an approaching craft that may never come. If he has reason, then Jetpig will surely put you on his itinerary, to be sure.
