Work for Charitable Non-Profits
Every day, in communities throughout our nation, people give their time and their money to support the efforts of non-profit charities. From 1989 until 1996, as an employee of the American Red Cross, National Capital Chapter, I saw from the inside what a committed and effective non profit organization can accomplish for the people it serves.
In those pre-Web days, I was responsible for the chapter's "graphic communications." That means I produced its newsletter, Annual Report, brochures and just about anything else that was put on paper. I'm still especially proud of the newsletter. I transformed it from a pro-forma publication into a revenue stream that actually produced $20,000 in annual net profit.
The newsletter, and our other publications, were effective because they communicated the chapter's story to our public.
They told stories of people who had lost their homes due to fire or floods. They told of chapter volunteers who left their comfortable homes in the middle of the night to care for strangers who had just lost everything.
Below are some samples of the stories we told at the National Capital Chapter. Please contact me if you'd like my help telling your story to the people who are important to you -> Yes, I'd like to hire Jill to tell our story.
