Japan Society of Fairfield County
Otsukimi 2007
Only a few people
were lucky
enough
to catch a glimpse of the moon through the warm heavy clouds at
Otsukimi 2007. As
in prior years, this event was jointly sponsored with the
Hammond Museum and Japanese Stroll Garden in North Salem, New
York and others. The event began at 6:30 pm on August 24th
with a
tea ceremony demonstration given by Michael McKenna.
Before the concert began at 8:00, we enjoyed dinner bentos from Kira
Sushi of Armonk, the exhibitions at
the Hammond Museum, and a
stroll through the Japanese Garden.
Asahi Shozo company donated sake for a pre concert sake tasting.
The frogs began their accompaniment. Five
pieces were played by Masayo Ishigure, the noted koto player, and her
student Motoko Kurodo and Shoji Mizumoto on the shakuhachi.
