Movie: Ponyo on the Cliff by the
Sea (Gake no Ue no Ponyo)

Animation legend Hayao Miyazaki returns to the childlike wonder of his
earlier films with Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea, an enchanting
story of a young fish-girl who defies her sea-wizard father to fall in
love with Sosuke, a Japanese boy living in a bustling seaside
community. As Ponyo strives to become human as a part of Sosuke’s
family, her decision causes upheavals on land and sea that can only be
resolved by all those involved, children and adults, recognizing the
power of uncomplicated, devotional love in their lives.
Brilliantly animated in a mixture of intense detail and simplistic
drawings, and told in the breathless, surrealistic style of an
imaginative child, Ponyo tells a charming tale that leaves
viewers spellbound.
