At the June 2004 writer’s conference hosted by JWKC, Karin was chosen to be mentored by Eileen Robinson, formerly with Scholastic’s Children’s Press division. The mentorship helped launch Karin out of her comfy world of writing short stories and easy readers into the unknown, scary world of writing a contemporary middle grade novel. Her first book, an easy reader titled Tiny Life on Plants, was published September 2005 by Children’s Press. Karin also publishes regularly in Focus on the Family’s Clubhouse magazine for 8-12 year olds, doing either biblical fiction or nonfiction pieces for them.
