(utilizing both Davey Karnuba's "Best of all Worlds" point sysem, and NASCAR's crappy "Mediocrity Rules" points system...)

NASCAR's point system - put into place thousands of years ago - has always rewarded consistency over excellence. "Consistency is the key to winning championships" goes the old saying. But there are some of us who feel that the key to winning championships should be, well, actually WINNING.

Let's see whose system more accurately reflects the level of competition, shall we?

My "Best of all worlds" point system owes more to the Formula 1 system, spread out a bit to account for a 43-car field. The points are alotted as follows...

1st place = 20 pts.
2nd place = 15 pts.
3rd place = 10 pts.
4th place = 8 pts
5th place = 7 pts
6th place = 6 pts
7th place = 5 pts
8th place = 4 pts
9th place = 3 pts
10th place = 2 pts

All cars that lead a lap = 1 pt
All cars that finish on lead lap = 1 pt
All cars that are running at the end = 1 pt

The only other points available are

pole position = 2 pts.
most laps led = 2 pts.

In the event that qualifying is rained out, no poins are awarded for the pole.

In the event of a points tie, the driver with the most wins gets the spot. Wins are denoted with an *

THE CHASE...

For the Chase to the Cup, my top 20 drivers had their points reset, with the 20th place driver starting at 100, and going up 5 points per spot, and the 10th place driver starting at 200, and going up 5 points per spot. As you can see, it is possible for a chase driver to actually finish the season out of the top 10! Of course, for that to happen, somebody out of the top 10 would have to do EXCEPTIONALLY well!
