Damn Yankee wins at "A Night
of
Fire"
This was a great chance for racing fans to come and see these fire
breathing monsters in action. This was a
Chicago Style race. Each of the cars made 2 qualifying runs and the
top 2 qualifiers returned in the finals to see
who would be crowned the event Champion. Mark Horvath from South Bend,
Indiana drove his "Damn Yankee" Vega
to the winner's circle making Tracy Klingerman from Bourbon, IN in
his 77 "Fuelish" Monza the runner up.

Chuck Horvath and his two sons, Brad and Mark, had a 15 year dream -
to build
a competitive drag car. Three years ago, Horvath started looking for
a dragster
chassis. He eventually found an unfinished, 1978 Vega fiberglass funny
car that
had been stored for 21 years in a barn.
