During the summers of 2002 and 2003, we found a wonderful way to avoid the hot
summer and hurricane season back home in Florida. We purchased a 30’ travel trailer, the WE BE BLEST on land, and pulled our "home away from home" behind the van.
As Gene described it, “I’m taking us away from the “luxury” of our double wide, and bring us
back down to earth in our single wide!”
Embarking on two six-month journeys, over 37,000 miles in all, we headed from Florida
to the Pacific Northwest via the southern route one year and the northern route the following year. Our eventual destination? Oregon and Washington state. After we drove over the 4.2-mile Columbia River Bridge at Astoria, Oregon into Washington,
we had been in all the lower 48 states. One of the goals of those trips now accomplished!
Our son Neal and his wife Becky gave us Chicken Soup for the Traveler's Soul. The book included a story about a traveler
meeting Mother Teresa twice in the same day. When he asked her what message she
had for him, Mother Teresa said to always look for the truth in his travels, and guide others to look for the truth. This clicked with me. As we traveled
around looking for the truth, looking for God in all our experiences and encounters, I wrote stories about them and subsequently
published a book, TRAVELING WITH THE LORD: A Emmaus Journey to the Pacific Northwest.
Come share in our WE BE BLEST on land adventures ... take a journey to the Pacific Northwest
