3WayCall (2006)

In the modern world, where the savvy citizen can communicate complexly over a myriad of technological options, 3WayCall brings together a unique collection of works by choreographers from three different states.  The final result not only rattles the boundaries of modern dance with unique choreographic structures, interactive environments, and hypnotic movement, but it also showcases a unique process of creating work in a collaborative environment outside of a common physical space.

Constructed via phone calls, emails, videos, graphs, sketches, and a few chance meetings, 3WayCall challenges what it means to create works in a medium so tied to physical interaction. In the three woman show, 3WayCall’s Stephanie Beauchamp’s (NY) classical power and sweeping clarity is matched by Nancy Hughes’ (MA) wild peculiarity and abandonment and layered by Katrina O’Brien’s (OR) tactile athleticism and childlike candor, all with side-glanced humor.
