This Acropora sp. was a very dark purple, almost black when I got it (9/01) it has been a slow grower (has sped up recently) and the color change has been dramatic.

Tis coral was given to me from the LFS to save. It had fallen into a galaxy coral and was stung resulting in tissue loss on a few branches.
