Al Squires K4CKS is a homebrew artist ! So I've decided to dedicate a
page to his AM creations !

How about this for a neat homebrew AM transmitter
? Al, K4CKS built this pair of 4CX250's modulated by a pair of 811A's.

The modulator deck with a nice window so you can see those
811A's glow red !

Another beautiful homebrew transmitter by Al,
K4CKS! Here's the particulars right from the homebrew artist himself....."The Tx puts out about 35/40 watts.
It really needed a larger loading cap. I used a 2 section b.c. job and padded it with a fixed cap. It has a 5763
osc driving a 6146 and gets about 3 ma drive. The meter switch has 3 positions, Pa grid, Pa cath. and Mod cath. The
HB p.s. has a speaker and muting ckt. It's an old TV transformer with the sec bridged and Fullwave. I get about 300
and 600 volts Speech amp is 12 AX7, 6c4 driver and push pull 2E26. Mic is Motorola low imp dynamic."

A look inside the homebrew 40 watter......I can't wait
to hear it on the air !

Full length view of Al's "Big" rig....a pair of 4CX250's modulated
by a pair of 811's. RF deck on top, modulator deck in the middle and power supply on bottom. Not shown in
this photo is the SP-600 receiver at the top of the rack....brought back from WWII by Bo W4TGL. (pictured on "Local Ops" page)

When 100 watts of AM on 3885 Kc is all that's needed, Al can
run this beautiful homebrew tabletop transmitter. Built around the venerable 4D32, it makes a great companion for the
HQ-129X receiver!

How about a vacation/camping AM portable that covers 40 mtrs
? How's this for a nice compact unit?
A single 6146 modulated by a pair of 2E26's give about 50 watts of plate modulated
AM on 7290Kc.
The receiver is a modified ARC-5 unit from WWII.
The complete description can be found on the "Local Ops" page.

Here's OM Al at his workbench with the portable rig.
I can almost see the wheels turning ..... "what will I build next ?"
Hey Al...how about a 160 mtr AM transmitter for your favorite TopBand operator (KX4R) ?
