Just picked up a copy of "A Scythe of Fire" and can't wait to read it. I was hoping to find a photo of each of my cousins, since I've been tracing my roots. Any ideas as to where I should look for a photo of them during their military service? Thanks for putting this website together.

say that the hat worn by Col. Bartow at Manassas and his portrait and other
effects were given to the Museum shortly after the war by his widow, Louisa

Comments:We became friends with some people in Oregon who do the CW
reenactment and were looking for some of the original breed of horse to ride
in their reenactments. We breed and raise the rare Canadian horse. We took
some down to the Equine Expo in Albany, Oregon and did a demo with the CW
riders on them. These young horses did very well with the shootin, saber
fighting, etc, etc. We had a great time. Glad to see that there are many of
you taking part in remembering the heros of the CW.
As a result of this we have found lots of good information regarding the
Canadian Horse and the Civil War -thanks to our friends in Oregon.

Gettysburg; and being a part of Longstreet's Corps. Visiting to learn more;

certainly doing a super job with the descendants page. That is a great idea,
all regimental sites should do that. I run a website dedicated to the 7th

page. Guess I need to get busy then! Best wishes on your efforts to remember

not take away the glory of their cause and efforts. DEO VINDICE!

Comments: OUTSTANDING SITE!!!!! I have visited several times over
the past few days, and find it a wealth of information on the 8th Reg't Georgia Infantry!
As a fellow web designer I find the site very well built,
appealing, and informative. I have recommended it to my
pards as a model site.
Keep up the Outstanding work.

Comments: Thank you so much for this web site! I have been searching
for information on Daniel Jackson Roberts of the 7th Ga
Infantry, but have not been able to find a web site for
them. So as I follow along with the 8th history, I am
able to re-trace alot of the 7th action. If anyone out
there can help me with the 7th's please e-mail me. thnks

Comments: Have just discovered two ancestors: Charles Worker who
fought for the North (New York) and H. or Hamlet Worker
(possibly William Worker) who fought in the Tenth Georgia
Militia. I have read this guestbook and am very impressed
with the knowledge that people have of their ancestors. I
wish someone could help me find some reference to Hamlet
Worker (H or W Worker) who served in Georgia. Would very
much appreciate it.

Comments: Great site, thanks for your efforts. Do any of you 8th
Georgia folks have information as to the arms first issued
to Company C (Macon Guards), 8th Georgia? I have some
logical but very inconclusive evidence that they may have
received some of the Robbins & Lawrence Windsor Enfields
from D.C.Hodgkins & Sons arms dealers in Macon. Any
information will be greatly appreciated. (My ancestors
served in the 31st and 53rd). Many thanks.

Comments: I am from oz, saw a tv documentry on your civil war and was
stunned at the cost ,bravery ,stupidity of a nation so
united now, slaughtering each other when you had taken and
held a land so ideal for a great future for many more than
that existed at the time, my country is similar in many
ways but nver saw anything like it "thank god "

Comments: Fabulous homepage! I've just recently begun to do some
family genealogy research and learned that my ancestors
were part of the 36th GA Inf. organized in Cherokee County,
April, 1862. My middle name comes, I think, from the
organizing Lieutenant Colonel Joshua A. Glenn. Thanks for your site.
