Appointed 2d Corporal. Surrendered, Appomattox, Va. April 9, 1865. (Enlisted at age 17, and enlistment papers are signed by Capt. Francis S. Bartow. He was in a hospital in Winchester when the Battle of First Manassas occurred, but was in every major engagement with the 8th until the end of the war. He was wounded in the right arm at Gettysburg, and was evacuated to the Confederate Hospital at Farmville, Virginia. He received 30 days leave after recovering from this wound, then rejoined the regiment. He turned 21 on April 9, 1865 at the Appomattox surrender. He returned to Savannah, and became a bookkeeper. He died in 1908 at the age of 64, and was buried at Laurel Grove Cemetery, Savannah. Ancestor of John Wright.) Wylly, Richard Habersham (or Robert Habersham) - Appointed 3d Corporal of Co.
