Born: May 18,1844 at Rome, Ga.
Died: July 1, 1923 at Rome, Ga.

Enlisted: Company H, 8th Georgia Volunteer Infantry on Feb. 20, 1862 (age 17) for the duration of the War.

Wounded (severely) on June 28, 1862 during the Seven Days Battle Before Richmond. He was interned at Chimborazo Hospital from July 16th to July 31st, 1862.

Sharpsburg 1863
Gettysburg 1863
Knoxville 1863 (was listed in Bell Hospital, Rome, Ga. Nov. 23, 1863.)

Captured at Mine Run, Va. May 6, 1864 (Battle of Wilderness).
Interned at Belle Plaines, Va. (POW)
Transferred to Elmira Prison (NY) August 1864.
Released at Elmira June 23, 1865 on taking the Oath of Allegience.

Member United Confederate Veterans - Camp # 368 Rome, Ga.
Awarded: Southern Cross of Honor May 14, 1900 by the U.D.C.

Applied for and received a Confederate Veterans Pension in 1915.

Married Martha Maggie Smith in 1869.

Buried in Oakland Cemetery, Rome, Ga.
