Over the past almost 45 years, Dr. Stone has been an active member of a number of professional psychological organizations. In the past couple of years, he has dropped his long-term membership in a number of such associations. For example, he was a ‘charter’ (i.e., since 1975) listed registrant in the National Register of Professional Service Providers in Psychology; however, he declined (in 1997) to continue his registration in this organization as its most major focus was concern with the providers of counseling or psychotherapy services. He has been a member of the American Psychological Association since 1957, of the Psychonomic Society since 1964, and of the American Psychology-Law Society since 1977 . In 1987 he successfully earned and was granted his psychological specialty Diplomate in Forensic Psychology by the American Board of Forensic Psychology, which is a specialty board of the American Board of Professional Psychology. Also, in 1987 he was also appointed as a 'Fellow' of the American Academy of Forensic Psychology. In 1989 he became a member of the International Military Testing Association. In 2000, Dr. Stone was informed that he had been honored
to be tentatively selected to be a Founding Fellow of the American College
of Advanced Practice Psychologists (FACAPP); he accepted this invitation.
The FACAPP is primarily designed to be the first advanced continuing education
training and credentialing organization for advanced-level, practicing
psychologists.
