Hey All,
Spring has sprung. Finally. I actually got
shoes on my horses so it's official. We're
doing some miles, tightening up muscles we
forgot existed. Now I'm kinda wishing they
didn't exist. You'd be surprised at the odd
places you can get calluses. :-)
I got my page proofs in the mail for my next
two books--Taming The Barbarian, out
in September, and Unzipped, out in
June. So they'll be going to press soon. In
fact, the ARCs (Advanced Reading Copies) are
available now, so if you're a bookseller or
reviewer who would be interested in
receiving one, please let me know. Also, I
will soon be giving away some advanced
copies on my website, so stay tuned.
I'm working hard on my next Christina
McMullen novel. Unplugged will be
released next spring, which seems like a
long time away, but the manuscript still
needs a lot of work. All those funky little
details have to be honed and polished. I'm
not as familiar with L.A. as I'd like to be,
and considering spring in Minnesota rarely
gets above 50 degrees, I would be willing to
make another trip to California. Strictly
for research of course.
Last week, I did a ride along with a local
police detective in an attempt to learn more
about police procedural. It was fascinating.
I should have started writing mystery long
ago just for that kind of experience.
Once Upon A Crime, a local book store,
hosted a signing with Kinky Freidman
(mystery writer, entertainer, and future
politician) last Tuesday. It was great fun.
I asked the lady behind me in line to ask
Kinky to give me a blurb for my next book.
And since she was so nice--and possibly
because she was roaring drunk :-) she did.
(Thanks nice lady, wherever you are.) So,
maybe Unplugged will feature a quote
from the next governor of Texas. Who knows?
Stranger things have happened.
Take care all, and God bless.
Lois
