Hi, I'm
Lowell Hanson, a 70 year old Retired Network Engineer, Husband, Father, and Grandfather who has a Web Site and am continually trying to determine its purpose. I originally made the site just to prove that I could. I have used it for various business purposes, but generally use it as a place to gather information for myself and then share it with others.
Now this page and the Site represent my personal interests, views, and values. Religion, family values, and politics have all been very influential in determining my current world view. I was very fortunate to grow up surrounded by a family which practiced and promoted excellant family and religious values. Growing up in a town of about 300 people also provided a useful and friendly extended family where I was able to observe and participate in many variations of family life. These same values need to be promoted in our culture (and in our churches) if we are to continue as the best place on earth.
Please E-mail me if you have a site reflecting personal and family values or include a summary of your beliefs and observations and I will include them here.

As of 30 April 2002, I have been fully retired. We enjoy being able to stay in the community and not fight the traffic. We plan to spend as much of our time as possible outdoors, either local walking, walking along the ocean, and hiking in the Blue Ridge. Just before Christmas 2003, we began our move to a Condo in Leisure World Va., near Leesburg, so we have moved a little closer to the Blue Ridge.
Thanks! Lowell

My life as I currently know it began when I married Mary Lou at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Mary Lou is a more private person than I who is currently in the learning process of using the Internet. Should she decide to do so her opinions and biography will be on her Web Page. There may be a slight possiblity that she does not agree with me on every subject. Mary Lou is obviously more fortunate than I. She is married to a "Grumpy Old Man" and I am still married and in love with the Wonderful, Beautiful, and still Feminine girl whom I met in Minneapolis many years ago!

Culturally, we seem to live in a different world than the one which we hear described on the radio, see on TV, and read about in newspapers and magazines. We believe and have always believed that marriage is a contract with God for life. I personally would like to live in a world where people would not snicker and believe you to be somehow out-of-touch if you believed in chastity before and faithfullness in a marriage - which I believe and have managed to also accomplish.
This discussion of Values is not intended to be judgemental, but is - I Believe - a viable alternative to the current mainstream culture. For more thoughts on the subject of judgement read my mothers story.
Marriage is not always easy - the magnetism of love seems to have one thing in common with an Iron Magnet - opposites attract. The gratification of a life long marriage, however, far exceeds all of the insignificant trials and tribulation. We have been blessed by having demonstrable results from our marriage - three wonderful children, two equally great children-in-law, and two exceedingly beautiful and talented grandaughters. I will have to admit I may be somewhat biased in my assessments, but others have also indicated some agreement with my observations.

Our daughter Vicki, has been married to Mike Wheeler for over 27 years and they have lived in Chippewa Falls, WI for most of that time. They are the parents of Stacy and Heidi, the two wonderful grand children previously mentioned.
Mike sells and installs various types of Material Handling equipment and modular factory offices. Vicki is working at a Scrapbooking and Craft store in Eau Claire. Both Mike and Vicki are actively involved in local activities and their Babtist church.
Stacy is living in Lafayette, CO where she is baby sitting a for sale house. Early in January 2003 she became engaged to Brian. Brian leads a Boys Youth Group and Stacy is leading a girls youth group at church - Stacy is right in the middle with a dark blue stocking cap - in the picture that will pop up if you clicked on youth group. Heidi is a student in Early Child Development at Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC. The picture below is on the trail to Table Rock Mountain when Stacy joined us in Greenville for the Easter Weekend in 2001 - Heidi on the left and Stacy on the right.

in Vienna, Virginia. He and Mary, his wife, have a new home and 3 acres in Purcellville, VA, with their dogs Deli and Daisy. Read the Loudon Times-Mirror, to learn about their area.
Tom and Mary are our only "Virginian" children and we really appreciate their presence - especially on Holidays and Birthdays. I enjoy having an early breakfast with Tom once a month or so.

Our youngest son Ron works for
in Sacramento, CA. We have enjoyed 2 of the last three Christmas's with Ron in Florida. I guess Sacramento is almost as nice at Christmas time.

We have been extremely fortunate in having children who have all become successful participants in American life and more importantly are still our friends. Our somewhat nomadic life has unfortunately seperated us geographically, but we still have the priviledge and enjoyment of the entire family being together at least every other year and usually more often.
