Experienced Internetworking Engineer who also understands Computer Systems, from a Hardware, Software and Applications point of view. Has successfully implemented large systems with various applications throughout the world. Has been the Systems Engineer for large scale projects in the US, Canada, Egypt, South Africa, Italy, Poland, Hungary, and Yugoslavia.

Has implemented and maintained a complete in home Business Computer System. The System includes Macs, PCs, interconnected with Ethernet, and Phone Net (LocalTalk). Have attended HP-UX System Admin class and have successfully installed HP-UX, SunOS, SunNetManager, Cisco Works, and have been a user of HP/OpenView and Spectrum.

The hardware and software components of Local and Wide Area Networks. In particular a detailed understanding of the complete hardware and software line of products from Cisco Systems. Certified by Cisco to be an instructor of the Hardware Installation and Maintenance, Software Configuration, and Troubleshooting courses. Extensive knowledge and experience with other vendor's products such as Nortel, 3Com, ACC, etc.

Experience with Novell, including Server Installation and troubleshooting, Client setup and administration of PC, Mac, and O/S2 workstations. Interconnection of multiple types of Computer Systems including Mainframes, Unix Workstations, PC's and Macs.

Extensive knowledge of the Media and Protocols required to build Networks and Internetworks, such as media, high-speed switching, Wide Area Communications, Ethernet, Token Ring, and FDDI.

Independent Consultant

Accomplishments:

Currently providing Support to a Carrier's Sales organization for all Contivity Based VPN Solutions. Also providing Technical Support to the Global Network Operations Center during installation and operation of Nortel Network Contivity Extranet Switch based platforms. Designed and am maintaining a Test and Evaluation Lab for all Contivity Extranet Switch software and hardware platforms.

Performed Test and Evaluation of the Nortel Preside Management system with the Nortel Contivity Extranet Switch as the IPSec delivery platform. The Preside system will accept Provisioning Information from Sales, provide configurations for the CESs and will then provide the SLA, Performance Management and Fault Management reporting functions for the NOC and the customer. The system is targeted to manage VPNs for customers with 100 to 500 sites. Eventually this Test and Evaluation Lab will integrate a Cisco based MPLS VPN and the Nortel Shasta network based VPN product.

Evaluated various VPN platforms for Nasdaq. Set up a Lab environment testing Site to Site IPSec VPNs between Cisco Routers and Lucent/Xedia routers. Test and verified operation of a UUSecure Internet VPN connecting sites in Texas, Connecticut and Maryland. With an Internet Access through one of the the UUSecure nodes, connected and configured a Nortel 2500 Contivity switch. Performed Dial Access testing and evaluation using IPSec Tunnels

Taught Internal Advanced Cisco Routing classes for a consulting organization specializing in Cisco based networks. Subjects included all Interior Routing Protocols, Access List usage, and BGP.

Implemented data encryption with Cisco's IOS encryption on a Federal Government sponsored Nationwide survey system.

Network Engineer and Configuration Manager for a large private network. Network contains about 150 Cisco Routers from 2500s to 7513s. Responsible for implementing and controlling changes to the Network. Also responsible for last resort trouble shooting on the entire network - especially in the areas of T1 CSU/DSU links, and Remote Source Route Bridging problems. Also active in the implementation of Spectrum Network monitoring of the Routers and the Cabletron Hubs.

Network Engineer for an Internet Backbone supplier. Involved with the implementation of the Global Sprint Link.

Worked with the Air Force to increase the performance of a 1200 Sun Workstation Network. Performance improved by a factor of four after reconfiguring the the Cisco routers and the FDDI interface in the Sun Servers.

Developed and presented Hands on Data Communications, LAN, WAN, and Internetworking courses with The American Institute, The Business Communications Review, and the American Research Group.

Developed a hands on approach to teaching Bell Atlantic System Techs the technical aspects of LAN/WAN integration with a two week program of learning Ethernet, Synoptic Hubs, TCPIP, Novell, and packet level troubleshooting. Presented this to about 100 System Techs.

Course Director and Presentor of the Cisco Hands On Installation and Maintenance and Cisco Internetwork Troubleshooting Courses as a Cisco Certified Instructor. As Course Director, developed all of the Laboratory exercises and designed the networks required to deliver the programs with a mobile lab.

Provided Router/Server and Client (PC, Mac, and Unix) configuration, upgrade, maintenance and other technical support for the other classes provided by the American Research Group.

Wrote the networking portion of a winning proposals to the Air Force to connect all LANs together on Bases and route them through a gateway to the DDN, and an Army Project to install LANs and WANs throughout the world using Unix based servers and PCs.

An acknowledged expert on Ethernet, Token Ring, Novell Operating Systems, interconnecting Local Areas Networks with Bridges and Routers, Internetworking DOS and OS/2 based LANs with UNIX and AppleTalk and various types of mini/mainframe systems with TCPIP.

Senior Network Engineer - GTE Internetworking Services

Working with large companies to provide Secure Dial Up systems. Users dial into Network Access Servers (Ascend Max) throughout the US and gain secure access to their own private network using Cisco routers for the translation process. Providing design for new customers as well as implementation and support. Also involved in the investigation and implementation of new VPN strategies and products.

Director of Network Management and Support Services, Network Evolutions, Inc.

Began the process of setting up an operation to provide either on or off site Network Facilities. Capablities include dual Network Management Platforms - one Sun with SunNetmanger and one with OpenView. Both will have Cisco Works, Remedy, Nerve Center and management applications such as Quadritec IP Address management software.

Principle Systems Engineer, Lockheed Electronics.

Communications Systems Engineer for a large Communications and Message Processing System being built for a Government Agency. Data is collected throughout the world and then entered into PCs on Novell LANs and transmitted to a central system of VAX clusters via a Sattelite communications network..

Assistant to Director of Realtime Systems, Spacecom Division of Contel

Coordinated the software activities on a proposal for a Communications system for the Space Command. System involved numerous sites throughout the world connecting to various Command and Control Centers. Evaluated a number of Vendors and finally proposed Stratus with Ada being used as the design and implementation language. Design on a R1000 and implementation on Stratus 600's and 400's.

Principle Systems Engineer, Martin Marietta Corporation.

Participated in the Systems Design and Project Management of the Remote Maintenance Monitoring System for the entire Air Traffic Control System of the FAA. System consists of a large TANDEM network with interfaces to 10 to 15000 monitored subsystems and 5 to 7000 terminals (IBM PCs or Clones) to provide the human interface. Most concentration was in the definition of the various protocols and applications definitions to communicate with the various equipments involved.

Principle Applications Engineer, Control Data Corporation, Energy Management Division

Responsibilities included supporting the Corporate and Division Sales Staff with technical information. Information was supplied verbally, via informal discussion with customers, and formal proposals. Actiing as Proposal Manager included coordinating the work of 6-10 Hardware and Software Managers, Word Processing and Graphics Arts Staff.

Project varies from $2 Million to a $40 million contract with the Eygyptian Electric Authority on an AID sponsored contract.

Communications Engineer, Control Data South Africa.

The work experience ranged from telephone company surveys to large site Engineer in Charge to Software Consultant for communications software to terminal installer.

Product Manager, European and Computer Systems Division, Control Data

Lived in Europe for two years and supported European activities for the Computer Systems Divisions. Managed Data Collection - Process Control projects in Italy, Hungary, and Yugoslavia and a Data Center in Italy.

Manager of Systems Test, Communications Systems Division, Control Data.

Responsible for a group of 12-14 Engineers, Programmers, and Technicians who performed the final testing and integration activities for the communications related systems. Responsible for all hardware installation activities for a number of Brokerage Control Systems in Manhattan.

Group Leader, Technical Support Engineer, Control Data

The responsibilities began with mainframe support and evolved to support for communications and special products. Included responsibility for setting up the Field Trouble Reporting system for all of the corporation's Field Engineers.

Shift Supervisor and on-site Customer Engineer, Control Data at Lockheed, Sunnyvale.

Completed Class A and Class B Electronic Schools and attained the rank of Second Class Electronic Technician while maintaining and supervising maintenance of electronic equipment at the Memphis NAS, a tanker, and a patrol craft.
