Our Mailorder Policies

Remember, we will be happy to answer questions that you have before you place an order - just send us an email and we will get back to you ASAP.

To order: We ask that you place any order with us by mail using the order form provided. Please enclose a check or money order as payment - we are not set up to accept credit cards. Make checks payable to: Madrone Nursery.

We are offering our mail order selections because we have had many requests from customers who live far from our facility. Please be sure to include an email address in case we have any questions about your order. We will notify you by email when your plants ship. If your order is a gift, please let us know and we will enclose a card. If you would like us to send a gift certificate, write the amount in on the order form and we will send it with a card.

Note: At the present time, we can send seeds but are unable to ship plants to AZ, CA, FL, HI, OR, or WA.

Packing your order: We make every effort to see that your plants arrive at your doorstep in good condition. Root balls of small plants are wrapped in plastic and larger plants have excess soil removed and roots packed in damp, sterile medium before being wrapped or bagged. All plant materials are clearly identified.

Shipping: Depending on the size and weight of the package, we will send your shipment by First Class Mail, Priority Mail, or UPS. Please provide a valid shipping address for plant orders. We cannot ship to PO Boxes. Allow 2-3 weeks for receipt of your plant materials. We will try to get your order out as soon as possible but please allow adequate time.

Care and cultivation: We have selected plants from our inventory that will travel well by mail and give you the best results. We ask that you plant them immediately upon receipt in a suitable, well-drained planting mix in a container or outside in a prepared bed. Remember that plants from our growing region are most likely to be damaged by overwatering. Please do not allow them to become waterlogged.

Since we cannot know the environmental factors of your particular site, we ask that you make yourself familiar with the plants you are ordering to avoid disappointment in other parts of the U.S.

Guarantee: If there are any problems with your order, please notify us within 5 days by e-mail or in writing. We will gladly correct any problems on our end, but cannot be held liable for any amount greater than the purchase price of a plant in question. If you are unhappy with any plant you receive, we will send you a credit towards a future purchase.

Please realize that these are not pampered, greenhouse-grown plants. We subject them to regular weather conditions and stresses so they will be robust and ready for your landscape plantings.

We cannot give a guarantee on our seeds as their successful germination and growth is subject to many factors - your gardening ability, adequate protection from varmints, and favorable environmental conditions. We do send you the same seeds that we grow our nursery crops from and guarantee that they are fresh, true-to-name and viable.

Consult one of our recommended propagation reference books for best resuts.
