ADDENDA

It is not unusual to have an addendum following the close of the meeting.  So I’ve included this heading for information that would not fall under any of the other sections of My Job’s Daughters’ Journal.  Please address your questions to me at mcmanust@earthlink.net.  Thank you.

Promotional Workshops

In response to many inquiries, I want to describe the workshops that I offer the IOJD community.  One of the best ways in which to enlarge our IOJD perspective is to share ideas and projects with each other.  In this vein, several years ago I was invited to visit British Columbia and to present a demonstration of new promotional ideas gathered from other jurisdictions, but mostly based on the materials and programs that PGG Cheri Pruitt and I designed for use in Washington.

This was a fun event for me.  My British Columbia friends spread the word, and before long I was invited by Nebraska’s Grand Guardian Council to offer the same workshop.  Following that experience, under the auspices of the Supreme Guardian Council Leadership Development Committee, I presented talks in Missouri, Delaware and Washington on the history of our Order and on improving our IOJD writing skills.

Then, when I was Supreme Guardian, it was important to me that each jurisdiction and every Bethel Under Supreme have the opportunity to learn new ideas and to participate in an active exchange of information.  To this end, I introduced the True Colors program to the IOJD, and together with my ASG Ken Bastin, his wife, Ann, and my husband, Dean, we offered several promotional and leadership topics in our workshops, thus giving both Daughters and adults an opportunity to learn more about our Order, how to promote it, and how to work better together.

Since serving as Supreme Guardian, I have presented promotional workshops at Wyoming’s Grand Session, and Oregon’s Grand Bethel Weekend, and I presented several topics at a Leadership Workshop sponsored by Pennsylvania’s Grand Guardian Council.  In Alaska, our Executive Manager, Susan Goolsby,  and Kae Hamilton ( MIJD 93-94), joined me in conducting promotional and leadership workshops for both Daughters and adults.  As interest continues to be shown for these presentations, I have developed new topics and look forward to each opportunity as another chance to enjoy the “magic of youth and the joy of life”.

My workshops include videotapes, displays, and lots of handouts.  There’s always plenty of time for questions and answers, and lots of humor!  Equipment needs are usually limited to an overhead projector, VCR, flip chart, and portable microphone.  There is no cost for the workshop, but I request monetary assistance for a portion of my travel expenses.  Please contact me through my e-mail address for additional information.
