Nine participants viewed 70 species on this trip.
At our meeting place at C.V.S. in Bath we had a Phoebe, Ring billed Gulls,
singing cardinals, a mockingbird, and a high fly by of a Common Loon. A pair of Osprey on their power line nest just off from
Congress Ave., Bath on the highway.
A mature Eagle on it’s nest on New Meadows Lake, West Bath, and
an immature Bald Eagle flying near Cook’s Corner.
We had Fish Crows and a small flock of Cedar Waxwings at our meetingplace
at Hannaford’s in Brunswick.
Many Robins and flocks of blackbirds everywhere. A pair of Ravens , Common
Crows, and several Red Tail Hawks were seen en route to Scarborough.
Scarborough Marsh: Double Crested Cormorants, Mockingbird, Tree Sparrow,
Junco, Great Blue Heron with a Great Egret standing beside it and a Glossy Ibis right behind it! Snowy Egrets, Green Winged
Teal, Canada Geese, Black Ducks, Mallards, Hooded Mergansers, Turkey Vultures, Osprey, Northern Harrier, Killdeer, Blue Jays,
Tree Swallows, Mourning Dove, Red Winged Blackbirds, Grackles, House Finches, Red Tail Hawk, Song and House Sparrows.
Pelrico Building: A pair of Gadwall, Rough Legged Hawk, Green winged
teal, Great and Snowy Egrets, a pair of Northern Harriers put on quite a show as well as a group of three Kestrels. There
were also Canada Geese and Black Ducks present.
Biddeford Pool: Red Breasted Mergansers, Common Loons, Common Eiders,
Common Goldeneyes, one Greater Yellowlegs, one Black Bellied Plover, Ring billed, Herring and Great Back Backed Gulls. A mixed
flock of Ruddy Turnstones and Purple Sandpipers also included one Snow Bunting.
From the boat landing at Biddeford Pool: Horned and Red Necked Grebes
as well as a lone Pied Billed Grebe, Brant, Surf and White Winged Scoters, a Sharp-Shinned Hawk and a Merlin.
From East End Beach, Biddeford Pool: Five Harlequin Ducks, Long Tail
Ducks, Black Scoters, flocks of D.C. Cormorants, Cedar Waxwings and more Brant. Black Guillemots as well as Cowbirds, Chickadees
and Goldfinch were seen also.
At the pond near the Nun’s retreat no Night Heron were seen but
a Fox Sparrow was present. Bufflehead were In a small pond as we were leaving Biddeford Pool.
Maine Audubon’s Gilsland Farm in Falmouth: White Breasted Nuthatch.
There was a Cooper’s Hawk” stalking “birds at the childrens feeder by hopping around on the ground.
