Harmon Buckley, early 1940s.

This July 1943 newspaper clipping, likely from the Holdenville Daily News, describes a letter from Harmon, which in turn mentions the fighting in Sicily.

"We Haven't Been Scratched," Writes Lt. Harmon Buckley
Mrs. Harmon Buckley received a letter Wednesday from her husband , Lt. Buckley, who is serving with the 45th division in Sicily.
The letter, the first since the invasion of Sicily, stated that he was "doing fine and knocking down these Dutchmen as we come to them--and we haven't been scratched yet."
Mrs. Buckley and their young son, Russell Evans are making their home with Lt. Buckley's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Buckley, E. Main.
