Dearest Billie Jean,
    I thought I would drop you a line while I had the time. I am feeling swell and have seen some really interesting places since I left the U.S.A. This Africa is some place & you should see the Arabs here because they are really queer. I will tell you all about them when I get home.
    Billie I received a letter today from my Son and it really made me happy. He said he was going up to see you all soon. He and his Mother are the sweetest ones. I sure do love them. So you help Anita take good care of him.

    Sis. how is our wonderful mother & dad feeling? I hope they are feeling much better by now. Tell dad that Russ. told me about the letter they received asking Anita & him to come up. You are really going to have to get on dad & mother and make them take better care of themselves.
    Billie what have you been doing since school was out? I bet you have been having fun. When you write Mearl tell her & Orville hello for me and ask her to write to me because a letter means so much to a soldier over here.
    I will close now and drop mother & dad a few lines. Tell everyone hello for me & and write me alot. Don't worry because I will be O.K.
