Web site of a living history organization dedicated to preserving 45th Division WWII history. Site includes veterans' stories, letters, and photographs.
National Personnel Records Center, Military Personnel Records
Repository of "millions of military personnel, health, and medical records of discharged and deceased veterans of all services during the 20th century." Includes information on how to request veterans' service records (be aware that many records were destroyed by fire and are not available). Also includes links to "Other Helpful Sites," including military historical organizations and veterans' associations.
Web site of the Legacy Project, a "national, all-volunteer effort working to honor and remember those who have served this nation in wartime by seeking out and saving their letters." Includes tips on how to preserve, store, and display letters.

Site features the Anzio Journal of Paul Brown of the 179th Regiment Grave Registration Service, with a detailed list of 477 soldiers killed in action at Salerno and Anzio.
