Schacht-Reeves Saxony Double-treadle wheel

Schacht has gotten together with Rick and Marge Reeves to create a new Schacht saxony wheel. The wheels will be available:

• in either 24" or 30" diameter.

• with single or double treadle.

• in ash or cherry wood. (They will be making wheels in ash first, so the cherry will take longer.)

The wheels are expected to start shipping late in 2004. Contact the shop to order one or get more information!

Note: The Schacht-Reeves flyer shaft will be 5/16” diameter (versus the original Reeves 1⁄4” diameter). This means that the bobbins for the new wheel can’t be used on prior Reeves-made wheels. Contact the shop to order bobbins for the older wheels.

The Schacht Matchless comes in single- and double-treadle models. Both wheels feature:

• Wheel diameter: 19.5"

• Included:
  • 4 bobbins
  • lazy kate
  • threading hook
  • medium whorl
  • fast whorl

• Ratios: 9:1, 11:1, 13:1 and 15.5:1 on included whorls. Wheel can be set up for double drive or scotch tension.
