Unedited Notes
Just wanted to get something up here.

I am Sick of Sex and T & A
on the Network Television Airways

TV Programs and Commercials Alike

And Uninvited Explicit and Pornographic Cable TV Programing

If we don't stop it, soon we will have orgies on Public (network) TV all day and night like in Europe and other Countries.

I am not trying to stop everyone from having the kind of shows they want, but I have the right to have decent, modest TV in my home. Instead my husband and I are constantly bombarded with women saying look at me, look at me and buy this product because I am showing you my body parts.

My freedom NOT to be constantly sexually harassed through TV is nearly gone. I want it back - I want modesty on public (network) TV and on the cable shows I pay for.

I want lawmakers to protect me from this.

I want to be able to watch TV without women undressing and caressing themselves with soaps and lotions, moaning and groaning about their shampoo, opening their blouses to show their bra, and posing and parading around in their underwear in front of myself or my husband. I want to be the only nude body in his life.

I don't want to see gross gaping open mouth tongue hanging "kisses" and I don't want to see people having sex !! I am Sick of It !!

No, I do not want equal time seeing nude men. It makes me equally as offended to have some strange man's buttocks or any other part stuck in my face. My husband's buttocks are the only one's I want to see, especially with legs wrapped around them, mine !! (Offended by that image ? I would be too. My point is that I am not against sex !)

These people are invading my space. Don't tell me to "turn the channel" if I don't like it.
I have to turn it all the time, but I shouldn't have to.

The TV is a portal to MY home.

I should be able to say what kind of stuff is put into it.

I'm 46, I grew up in the Midwest watching Superman, the Lone Ranger, and Sky King. The good guys always won.
Even at a very young age, I swooned at these handsome heroes and I always looked forward to growing up and marrying my own hero.
Now I am married to my hero, my very own superman. And trust me he is super, and I am not a sexual prude.

But I am constantly upset, offended and sickened with other people pushing there exhibitionism into my home, my space, my privacy, often just to sell some underwear, soap or lotion. No one ever asked me if I wanted this in my house, my home, my world.

I don't like seeing other people's parts

I don't like seeing other people having sex

I don't like seeing orgies. I don't like seeing women using vibrators.

I am deeply offended that these things are on my TV in my home without my permission. I should not have to encounter these things in my home while innocently clicking through the channels for something interesting to watch.

For me, sex is special, between consenting adults especially those married and in love. If men are bombarded, with constant images of breasts and underwear and heavy breathing women parading around, how can normal women be special ? My husband says it makes it boring to keep seeing it on TV. The few are robbing the many so they can profit from it - so they can compete with the other guy.

Won't we buy soap, shampoo, toothpaste, lotion, clothes and perfume anyway ? Must a few companies be allowed to ruin what's left of our country's innocence so they can compete with the other guy ?

Will our little girls have any modesty left ? Will they think it's okay to undress in front of anyone anytime and parade around in their underwear ?

Will little boys insist on it ? Well, they do it on TV, right ?

Where is my freedom, where is my space ?

If people keep coming up to you at work and showing you their underwear, wouldn't you feel offended and harassed ?

If women came up to you on the street when you are with your children and open their blouse to show you their bra, how would we feel?

Is this going to be the norm ?

That's where we are headed. That's where we are now. There is no time and no place when I can relax and click through the channels on my TV in my home and not have someone showering, caressing, moaning, parading, or having sex. I just want to watch TV.

I don't want to see all this personal stuff. And I don't want other women gyrating in front of myself or my husband, and neither does he.

Why can't I sit and watch TV with my niece or my father without being embarrassed by some gross scene ?

It's so ridiculous that certain words are bleeped out of shows now but no one cares about the porn on everyday TV. That's what I consider it - Pornography. I feel sexually assaulted. I feel raped. If I could, I would start a class action law suit of some kind to make the Networks clean up TV, day and night and require cable company options for the type of viewing a subscriber wants. The public has a right not to have the airways ruined for the commercial benefit of a few companies.

Fine, if you want these kind of commercials and programming, sure, you should be able to ask the cable company to provide you with what you want.

But I feel that the Cable companies, and the Cable channels should have to provide at least 3 to 4 choices - kid safe, intermediate with little or no sex and nudity(my choice), perhaps moderate sex and nudity, and what ever is left.

Violence is another story and should probably be figured in separately, especially for people with kids.

Where I don't want sex and nudity, my husband likes guy movies like "Die Hard" etc. but they don't have sex in them. Those are fine in my home. I don't like "Freddie Kruger" movies but I can pass them on the channel without being overly offended. Unless you are really looking, you can't see what's happening. But as soon as you turn the channel to moaning, sex and nudity, it is there and obvious and it offends immediately. I don't want it in my house ever.

It makes me ill. I don't want to have sex for a while after until I can get rid of the images and gross sounds out of my head. I want a "Breast-free Zone" of channels and movies provided to me. I don't want all kiddie stuff - I don't have any kids - I just want the porn filtered out. I don't know how people with kids tolerate this.

You don't have to show breasts and people having sex to convey sexual tension and attraction or to convey that people had or will have sex together.

Doris Day and Rock Hudson didn't need any of that - look at the movie "Pillow Talk" - they knew how to generate heat without showing anything. That was good movie making and good acting. You can feel the passion without offense - okay, my cheeks my get a little pink if I were watching with other people - but they did it tastefully. Their kissing isn't sickening and gross - you don't see their tongues hanging out.

Where is "Women's Lib?" I feel this is making real women more insignificant than ever just so that these companies can make money.

In the future on this site, I am hoping to be able to provide some letters that you can print and send to offending networks, corporations and to lawmakers and legislators - and hopefully I would have their phone numbers and addresses here. I don't understand why religious organizations don't take this up too.

Perhaps someone could start up a screening network where you could choose your criteria and they would screen it all out for you - Like PAXTV has a satellite network - but I don't want just religious programming, I just want normal TV without indiscreet soap and underwear commercials and movies without blatant nudity and sex acts.

I want network TV, but I don't want bra shows on the news !! I don't want to see women in their bras and panties in front of my husband.

I will start listing companies to write to and or boycott. Although it is hard to boycott these days because there may be no product left in the category.

I have boycotted Caress soap for more than 10 years and there are still some soaps left for me to buy, but now other companies are gradually following suit.

I have boycotted Hanes for at least 10 years. But now there is hardly an underwear company or store that doesn't show young girls and women parading around and even sticking their behinds in the camera. So upsetting and offensive. I have only bought Fruit of the Loom for a long time because they held out the longest. Finally they went too far. So, I have to have some kind of underwear, whose do I buy? Not Victoria's Secret, that's for sure. They are the worst and are ruining the country for all of us, and the shows and Networks that show these commercials, yes, and to my great disappointment, they even sponsor the Oprah show and the so-called Lifetime woman's channel and PAXTV. Well, I am a woman and I get sick of other women running around on my TV without their clothes on. Is that all there is to us - our T & A ?

Cable companies, movie channels, please give us a choice NOT to have this kind of viewing. HBO is trying by having different categories on different channels, but they don't have a single one for me. They show a movie like "Everlasting" with no sex or nudity, and the next movie could have totally explicit sex.

BET has wonderful Jazz music but then has shows with totally explicit sex.

And for years now, I don't go to the movies and there are lots of good movies which are ruined for me because of their useless sex scenes. Instead of bleeping out cuss words, I would like to have movies with these scenes and sounds blacked out and a non-explicit description of the action and/or the dialog so that the relationships are still understood.

Later I may have some sort of a contact form for others who also want less of this on their TV. I am not interested too much in those who disagree. Again, I am not trying to stop people from having their preferred viewing, I just want mine too.

We still have a semblance of public decency. In most states, you can't run around naked or have sex on the table in a restaurant.

I just want to push back porn out of my space.

I hope there will be something we can do by writing to the right people. I just don't have a lot of time to work on this. I have another calling in life. If not, I would be speaking in Congress and starting peaceful demonstrations !!

Bye for now.

I am not interested in hearing opposing views and am not trying to stop anyone else from having their freedom of choice.

It's just that my freedom of choice is all but gone and I want it back.

Anyone else feel this way ?
