Geldof strikes again. If you're in Philly or London over July 4, and you have an exceptionally disposable income, you can
check out Live 8.

Despite a now long-forgotten history of edgy, diverse shows (this angle was dropped when it became clear that Murdoch's net
could make it with the big guns; no need to further pander to the "niche" market), Fox introduces its group of potentials for the 2005-2006 season lineup. See photos for Token Black (or Asian, or Spicy Latina) and his honky friends.

The world is indeed flat. And completely retarded.

I may seem like a bit of a buzz kill here, but doesn't this seem a little icky and, I don't know, exploitative?

Can't wait to go see this.

Though this version is abridged (I'll have to buy the book, too...), I can't wait to pick up the audiobook for Sarah Vowell's Assasination Vacation, which includes Dave Eggers, Stephen King, Catherine Keener, Jon Stewart and a bevy of other nifty guests.

The morons over at Sony are holding Fiona Apple's album Extraordinary Machine hostage because it has no obvious single,
but where there are fans with technology, there are ways around the corporate slags.

Salon.com loves Veronica New episode tonight at 9pm on UPN. I KNOW it's friggin' UPN, but every network has its time to shine (ever see The Simpsons
or Buffy? Fox and the WB were once jokes, too [okay, Fox kinda still is]).

A Smoke Free Ireland? Go Ireland for making it a year without any major catastrophes, though I'm not sure I'd recognize ye' without the pub
haze.
3/27--Deep Shaggish Bloglike Activity
Deep Shag was the blog, and here it's going to do some bloggish things from time to time -- when I feel the urge to write
something in a bloggy way.
Today, we took a wook up to the Bronson Caves (AKA the Bat Caves) with the dog, and a group of people were up there shooting
a low-budget horror film. On the way down the hill, we found a piece of set gold, left over from some perhaps long ago film
shoot. It's a rock, painted gold. We then walked another path, where we ran into a very talkative father-son pair. The
son had stepped in dog shit and was washing his boots in the ever-diminishing stream. Soon the water that last month rambled
over the path and up into the trees will be gone, leaving a dry river bed for rattle snakes to sun in. But for now, there
was a little girl, around three, playing in the mud while her mom stood off to the side holding her stuffed horse. Spring
in L.A. is a nice thing.
Veronica Mars wins E! Online "Save Our Show" poll. Beating out popular shows in a landslide win (it somehow even trounced the ever fabulous Arrested Development),
VM proves it's this year's big cult hit.
Joss Whedon confirmed as director of Wonder Woman Appropriate, no?
