Our next litter of puggle pups should be ready to go home mid July and it looks like we have another beagle coming into season.

One of our puggle pups (Bosco) is featured on MY SPACE. Bosco resides in AURORA, Illinois with Gena. It looks like the "MY SPACE" community is having fun and I'm sure Gena and Bosco would love to hear from you.

"The Rowland Family" has devoted the past five years to the breeding of healthy and happy puggles who are aesthetically appealing and then offering them to the public for adoption. We expect to have four to six litters available per year so feel free to contact Sherry (317-512-2767) or Mike (317-512-2768) by phone or email us at msrowland@earthlink.net.

It is our policy to find loving homes for our pups before the pups arrive. We have formed two lists, one list is a Wait List and the other is a Reserve List.

The Wait List is a running list of names and contact information that want to be informed when a litter arrives. If there are more than five pups in a litter then those pups will be offered to the contacts on the wait list after everybody on the reserve list has chosen their pup. You can request to be added to our wait list by filling out and submitting any of the forms sprinkled throughout our site or email Sherry at msrowland@earthlink.net .

The Reserve List is a list of five contacts (I will only reserve five pups per unborn litter) that have decided to welcome one of our pups into their home and committed to the pup by sending in a small deposit to reserve their pup prior to the arrival of the litter. The reserve list will select their pup starting at the age of four weeks with first on the list receiving first pick and so on. Please view “2007 Litter” page to view the list. We expect four litters of puggles to arrive per year and I am willing to work with anybody that wants a pup from Rowland Family Puggles.

--OUR BREEDING PROGRAM--

Puggles are a Popular Hybrid Breed consisting of 50% Beagle and 50% Pug. We breed for first generation puggles by pairing together a small purebred registered beagle and a small purebred registered pug.

We have been breeding puggles and raising them in our home for the past four years in Shelbyville, IN and now continuing our program South of Arlington, IN (hm 765-763-6414, cell 317-512-2767). Currently we do not belong to a breeding club or organization because our pups are born and raised in our home but we do our best to comply with the Humane Society of the United States

Our Beagles and Pugs are Registered (AKC and/or CKC) and the puggle pups can be registered with CKC. All pups leave my house with a CKC registration application. All the parents live with us at our home. The pups are raised in our house with our kids, cat and other dogs until the time they go to their new home.

Manny is the pug we are currently standing and he is about 9" at the shoulder. Manny is the sire of all of our puggle pups (we will be introducing Doc into our breeding program later this year). Manny was born Christmas Day 2000 and is very healthy and continues to be very virile (see Manny's page).

Currently we have four female beagles that are producing (Liz, Mony, Netty and Betty) and one that we have retired (Grady). Betty is the smallest of the four, she is small boned and around 9 1/2 to 10 inches at the shoulders weighing about 18 to 20 lbs and the other three are a little larger boned and around 11 inches weighing about 23 to 25 lbs (see female beagles page).

Grady is four years old and has had two litters of puggles for us and has since retired from having pups but still lives on our farm.

Betty is two years old and she had her first litter of puggles Dec 19, 2006. Liz, Mony and Netty are three years old. Liz has had one litter of puggles in 2006, Mony has had two litters (2005 & 2006) and Netty had her first litter of puggle Dec 21, 2006.

The idea of hybrid vigor is generally accepted among scientists, said John Pollack, a professor of animal sciences at Cornell University. "Crossbred animals are typically healthier," he said. A cross between a pug and a beagle should eliminate genetic problems that may exist in either breed because about 90 percent of genetic problems are recessive.

Price of pups remain the same whether the pup is being picked up from our house, shipped or delivered. There is a shipping fee and a delivery fee should you choose to go that route.

We will only accept five deposits (meaning five pups can be reserved) per litter that hasn't arrived yet. Please open "2007 litter" page.

You may contact Rowland Family Puggles through our web mail: msrowland@earthlink.net and ask to be added to our wait list or fill out and submit one of the wait list forms posted throughout the site. You are not obligated to buy a pup if your name is added to the wait list and we do not charge a fee. We will do our best to contact everybody on the list once we know a litter is on the way.

All upcoming litters will be announced on the front page of our website so check back every 30 days.

A non-refundable (as of 8-23-2006) deposit in the amount you are comfortable with will reserve your pup and if something unforeseen happens to your pup we will work with you to find another suitable pup or refund to you your deposit in full. We accept personal checks, cashiers checks, cash and PayPal. PayPal users, please keep in mind that PayPal charges a 3% fee and it is applied to the receiver and in the event you need to have your money refunded it will be in the amount you sent minus the 3% fee. We do not keep funds in the PayPal account and as a result it might take three or four business days for transactions to be completed.

Pup is to be paid in full before it goes home (bring cash if final payment is to be made at time of pick-up).

We will ship the pup for a $250 fee (see "Thinking About Shipping" page for more info). We are open to meeting you within 200 miles (negotiable) of Shelbyville, IN for a fee of $100.

The pups will be ID Micro chipped with the Avid system before he/she leaves our care. Our veterinarian (Dr. Kingen) will check the pup before leaving our care and the pup will be up-to-date with shots and de-worming.

Your pup will be raised in our home along with our family and other pets.

We strongly recommend that your new pup visit your veterinarian within 72 hours of the time the pup leaves our care.

If you follow thru with this, we will offer a 72 hour health guarantee from the time the pup leaves our home as long as you have proof that the pup visited your veterinarian within 72 hours of leaving our care. If the pup dies within those 72 hours then we will need something in writing from your veterinarian explaining the reason for death and proof that the pup visited your veterinarian (Guarantee does not extend to neglect of the pup). If the pup is found to be in "life threatening" health by your veterinarian then you can return him/her to "Rowland Family Puggles" within 24 hours of your visit to the veterinarian and we will have the pup check by our veterinarian and if they agree then you will receive a full refund but we will need something in writing from your veterinarian and we will follow up with a call.

Your pup will not be released to you if our veterinarian finds the pup in less than good health and you will be contacted if our vet has any concerns about your pup's health in the near future so you can make an informed decision. This means that when the pup leaves our home he/she is considered to be in good health at the time of departure by Mike, Sherry and Dr Kingen.

Guarantee does not extend to the death of a pup due to neglect after leaving our care.
