This year at our annual Roosevelt-Humphrey Day Dinner, on October 19, 2000 (reception 6:15, dinner 7:00), we will be honoring Congressmember Charles Rangel, for his lifetime of service to progressive causes. Rangel is the ranking Democratic member of the House Ways and Means Committee, and will thus chair it if Democrats retake the House. He is a former president of ADA, with a 91% lifetime ADA voting record. AFSCME (American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees) President Gerald McEntee, a former RHD honoree, will chair the dinner.
In addition to being an event that draws much of the labor and political community, it is also NYC ADA's primary source of income. The RHD Dinner makes it possible for the local chapter to maintain its office and staff, send out newsletters, and write City Councilmembers, the State Legislature, and Congressmembers on the various bills that come up during the legislative year.
Mark off your calendars. Rangel is not only known as one of the most influential New York Congressmembers, but is a great speaker, and a great liberal. We expect many of New York's most prominent elected officials to show. The price of the dinner is $175.00. Send ticket requests to:
