Specials supplement and enhance the curriculum at Oakwood by sharing
their expertise of specific subjects. Our students benefit from these skilled instructors who are passionate about
sharing their interests with them.
Art Teacher
Mary Prince
Children have an innate desire to express themselves, to create and to communicate. I work to foster a cooperative and
supportive art experience which allows Oakwood students to express their uniqueness and develop their own individual capabilities
for imagination and growth.
P.E. and Yoga Instructor
Barbara Clark
Physical education provides instruction that allows students
to experience their bodies, minds, and spirits. As physical activity has been shown to play an important role in the basic
maturation of the brain, and, therefore, the child's intellect, I believe in the positive relationship between being physically
fit and academically fit. Such incorporation promotes healthful living reflected in children who are better equipped to become
confident, considerate, and intelligent adults in the larger community.
Spanish Teacher
Barbara Clark
Having grown up in Japan, Barbara's enthusiasm for teaching about cultural awareness and for promoting positive
communication between peoples are at the forefront of her passion for teaching. "By increasing confidence in conversation,
our students will gain an enthusiasm for languages and will carry this enthusiasm with them in all areas of learning. I am
confident that we will be hearing a lot of Spanish in our Oakwood hallways this year!"
