Constant Sorrow

RCA LSP 3395

Liner Notes
by Sammy Jackson

he doesn't just sing words...he sings heart

I was aware of Bobby Bare long before most of the record-buying world. Nine years ago when I first came to Hollywood, I worked as a shipping clerk at Capitol Records. Bobby was a timid young singer on their roster at that time and I remember how he would come into Shipping and ask me, or one of the other fellows, to pack a few records, he wanted to send to his deejay friends.

The next I knew of Bobby was his RCA Victor smash hit 'Shame on Me'. I was a disc jockey then and I was very proud as I played records by "the new Bobby Bare." He seemed the same sincere guy who used to come into the shipping room. But he was no longer timid. Now he was positive in his attitude and confident in his delivery.

The best way I can describe Bobby is: as a singer he doesn't just sing words. He sings warmth and feeling and understanding for the lyrics.,.. he sings heart.

In Constant Sorrow you'll hear Bobby Bare sing heart. And you'll believe it when he sings it. That's what makes Bobby Bare my kind of singer... my kind of folks.
