"Mudra hands - 2006"

spicedreaming

The deer's antlers are the map of the caves.

The anthropologists were wrong.
The ubiquitous handprints
in caves worldwide,
though strangly fingered,
were not hunter amputations,
were not bit off by fanged jaws
or chopped with obsidian knifes.
They were paleolithic mudra
painted by breath and impression,
the gangsigns of shamans
searching for the hand-keys
to fit the the space fingered keyholes
of the hidden doors in the cave wall.
Each seemingly rock solid entrance
when unlocked
revealed a fogged passage to another world.

It is not the visibility of things that is important,
it is their presence.
