I had another wonderful weekend in North Caroline. The whole pack went up Thursday night and was at the trial field at 6:45 the next morning. They offered only USDAA Masters runs Friday so I have two, Jumpers and Snookers. I Q’ed jumpers and Corie had a good run.
Snookers Phil screwed up and we were back in our hotel room by 11 AM. We all slept most of the afternoon to store
energy for the rest of the weekend.
Saturday morning started early and was a full day of seven runs. I Q’ed Master Jumpers and got my first Super Q in Master Snooker. Then I heard my first Steeplechase and Grand Prix were coming up late in the day. I was so excited I could not focus on anything after that.
It also got quite hot in the middle of the afternoon. Sorry Corie,
I blew your pairs run. We didn’t walk into the ring together and when I
saw you I was ready to frolic. I blew all three of my advanced runs,
but Q’ed both the new events. They are FAST and fun. I even qualified for day two of Steeplechase.
In the heat of the day I began to enjoy the kiddie pools. Before each run, Phil walked me through the pool, splashed my belly and dumped water on my back and head. He used the water to push the bangs out of my eyes too. I cooled me down enough, so I didn’t mind the warm southern sun.
Florida was well represented at this trial and we saw
lots of familiar faces. We met new friends too, including a couple who took my
picture in Phil’s arm. (No surprise there, I am very photogenic you know.) The picture of us in the shade was taken early on Saturday, so all my ribbons are
not shown. We Qed that Advanced
Pairs run Sunday, which Corie needed, but I didn’t get a Q in Advanced Standard which is all I need for my AAD. I have got Phil on a string for this one good! I’m
going to play him a while.
Happy Jumping!
