This is the STANDARD STEEL DIE FOUR BAR POSTMARK.
Size is 3 3/8" x 15/16"

CACHETS FOR SALE

        There are two first day postmarks for this issue. One is the standard four bar first day postmark. The other is a rubber die pictorial first day postmark. It shows sprigs of leaves and reads, "Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, Literary Arts, First Day of Issue. Size is 3" x 1 5/8"  The details of this issue appeared in the January 17 issue of the Postal Bulletin, pages 16-17.

        There are two first day postmarks for this issue. One is the standard four bat postmark. The other is a pictorial postmark. It shows a stylized microscope and reads, "first day of issue/american scientists." The size is 2 3/4" x 1 1/2".         A cross.
        This postmark is being used at the time and place of the issuance of the the new St. Mary's University Bicentennial  postcard and it is an unofficial first day postmark that you might consider sending for. To get this pictorial postmark and NOT the first day postmark here is my suggestion. On the outer envelope of your request, in the lower left corner write in large block letters, "PICTORIAL POSTMARK NOT THE FIRST DAY POSTMARK." And underline the words, "PICTORIAL POSTMARK" in red. Do the same on your accompanying request inside the envelope.
