Our Charter
The Irish Wolfhound Club of the Ozarks was founded in order to gather together from all over the Greater
Ozarks area for fellowship, competition, to improve their knowledge of the breed, to help socialize our hounds, to be ambassadors
of our breed, and to enjoy the majesty of our wonderful Irish Wolfhounds. We wanted a way that everyone who shares their lives
with Wolfhounds could gather in fellowship together and draw together owners, breeders, show dogs, pets, and enthusiasts alike.

History of Our Club
The first meeting of the Irish Wolfhound Club of the Ozarks occurred on November 20th, 2004. Most of the
club members have been showing Irish Wolfhounds in conformation for several years and desired a local breed club. We have
assembled together as friends for parades with our hounds and for Lure Coursing events in, Texas and Oklahoma, and Celtic
Festivals for a few years. Some of our members also belong to AKC Kennels clubs in Fort Smith and Little Rock. Our first
meeting took place in Little Rock, Arkansas at the Main Library. We nominated officers and voted Deb Frank as the President.
Since then we have held our meetings at member's homes. As well as, in the Festival Hall at Wiederkehr Winery in Altus,
Arkansas. Several of our members won Junior Courser titles (JC) on their Wolfhounds at the Afghan Hound Club of Dallas, AKC Lure Coursing Trial in Glen Rose, Texas and Sunstag White Heat SC won her Senior Courser title (SC) as a veteran. We marched in the
St. Patrick's Day Parade in Little Rock in 2004 and 2005. Also, this year we marched in "The Worlds Shortest St. Patrick's Day Parade" in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Also while we attended the Irish Wolfhound National Specialty 2005 at Purina Farms in Grey Summit, Missouri. Teresa Kuntz's bitch, Steppen' Wolf's Unbreakable Charm JC won Third Place in the Lure Coursing Trial at the IW Nationals. Our club is located within the Region 4
Lure Coursing area of the US. We have an active member in Gaze Hounds in Texas (GIT), who hold ASFA and AKC
Lure Coursing Trials in Texas and Oklahoma, as well as, LGRA and NOTRA racing. The Large Gazehound Race Association (LGRA)
hold straight line races where four hounds at a time race for 200 yards after a "Squawker" lure is pulled in front of them
by a fast electric motor. National Oval Track Racing (NOTRA) is similar except that the hounds race around an oval track.
Our club wants to put on our own Lure Coursing Trial in the near future.
IWCO has offically incorporated as February 2006.
