Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I get basic information about Financial Aid? Check this out.
Could you explain the different types of programs?
DEGREE PROGRAMS are from 18 to 24 months in length. Degree programs are longer term with a focus on college level instruction.
Along with the occupational courses, degree students are required to take English and math courses which are taught on the
college level. The college transfer programs are intended to provide easy transfer of credits into four-year
degree programs at various colleges and universities. Degree students have the option of seeking employment in their
chosen field of study. Students enrolled in degree courses are interested in expanding their education to a higher level than
that of a diploma or certificate program.
DIPLOMA PROGRAMS also vary in length, however, most diploma programs are at least one year in length. Diploma programs offer a more
well-rounded education than certificate programs. Along with the occupational courses, students are required to take general
education courses including English and math. Students enrolled in diploma courses are interested in longer-term training
than certificate students, but less than college level. Diploma students have the option of seeking employment in their chosen
field of study.
CERTIFICATE PROGRAMS are those areas of study that are one year or less in length. Students who are awarded a Certificate usually are
interested in short-term training which meets a specific need. Certificate programs are designed for those students who wish
to make a swift transition into the workforce.
Continuing Education courses (short-term, non-credit) are not curriculum credits and
are managed by the Continuing Education department--sometimes referred to as Workforce Education. (910-272-3603)
Some examples of Continuing Education courses are: Motorcycle safety, real estate, and notary public training.
When is early registration? You can always find this information in the
web Academic Calendar, the General Catalog, the Student Handbook and on the RCC webpage.
Who is my advisor?
Check "My Profile" in WebAdvisor. If you don't have an advisor, see Mr. Ronnie Locklear
in Admissions. New student advisor assignments and WebAdvisor advisor locator tips can be found here.
Who is my instructor? See "My Class Schedule"
in WebAdvisor
Can you print my class schedule
for me? You can print it yourself in WebAdvisor. You must enter WebAdvisor through Campus Cruiser.
Why can't you print a schedule for me? At certain times during the semester we
must switch our systems to other functions. During this time, we cannot print schedules in a user-friendly format.
Switching back and forth takes several minutes more for us to accomplish than it would for you to do this yourself at home
or in a RCC computer lab.
How many times can I miss a class before I am dropped?
See "Academic Policies and Procedures" in your RCC General Catalog and read your syllabus.
When is the last date to drop a class with a "W?" See the on-line
Academic Calendar or refer to the current RCC Catalog. For non-standard classes, see your syllabus.
How do I know which classes
I need to take? Work closely with your advisor and know the course requirements in your degree program. See
your RCC Catalog. You will also find helpful information about mapping your progress in the Graduation Information page.
Where can I find information about my status as a student?
Your academic and financial aid profiles can be found in WebAdvisor.
How can I get a copy of my transcript? You can print an
unofficial copy of your course work at RCC in WebAdvisor. If you need this information for a potential employer or another educational institution, you will probably need an
official transcript. You obtain an official transcript by completing, signing, and submitting this RCC Transcript Release Form. This form is also available in the Registrar's Office.
Can you tell me where to get my military transcript?
Take a look at the links listed here.
Why didn't I receive my grades? More often than not, this happens because a student
fails to update contact information with the Business Office. Only Business Services can update this information and
it is your reponsibility to make certain that your personal profile is accurate.
You can review your profile in WebAdvisor.
Why do I have a student ID number? RCC respects your privacy and the integrity
of your personal data. We recommend that you memorize your personal student identification number and use it on campus
in lieu of a social security number.
