WHAT IS A VOLKSSPORT?  It is an organized, non-competitive event (walk, bike, swim, etc.) designed to appeal to everyone. Walk events are usually 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) long, but shorter distances are usually available.

REGISTRATION & FEES Registration & directions are located at each start point.  All YRE events have self-service start boxes.  No pre-registration.  IVV credit is $2.00.  There is no charge if you do not want IVV credit, but everyone must register and turn the start card in at the finish. Only one (1) YRE event credit per 1/2 year may be entered in the Event Book. Participants may walk for DISTANCE credit without limit. Walk events of less than 20K may be done twice on the same card on the same day. (You must register and buy a start card each day even if you are repeating an event for distance credit only.) No refunds.

STIPULATION All participants in these events accept the guidelines of the AVA and agree to observe the principles of good sportsmanship and safety.  Littering is not permitted.  The events will take place regardless of weather conditions.  However, participants should not walk during severe weather.

IVV CREDIT These events are sanctioned by the AVA, a member of the IVV and count toward acquisition of achievement awards (see pictures).  IVV books or insert pages will be available.

DISCLAIMER  Although every effort is being made to make these safe, enjoyable and memorable events, the sponsor is not liable for accidents, thefts and/or material damage.

ELIGIBILITY Everyone is welcome. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

TIMES Walk during daylight hours only.

REFRESHMENTS & COMFORT Water & restrooms at start point and along most of the routes.  Park restrooms are not always open.
