Dear Submarine Veterans,
My name is Marilyn Torres and I work in the education department of the
Independence Seaport Museum in Philadephia. This summer we are starting
a
wonderful project to record the stories of World War II and Cold War
submarine veterans, and I am writing to offer you the opportunity to
share
your memories.
"Stories, Students, and the Silent Service" will pair high school
students
with submarine veterans to be interviewed and filmed. The filmed
interviews
will be archived in our library, and you will receive a copy of your own
interview to keep. The interviews will be edited to create a 28 minute
video to be played in our museum.
I am really excited about this project and the opportunities it will
provide
by making connections between submarine veterans and high school
students.
The first interviews will take place on Friday, July 14th with additional
dates taking place later in the summer. Take a look at the attached flyer
for more information and please call me if you are interested in lending
yourself, your stories, and your memories to this project.
You can reach me at 215-413-8647, or you can email me at education@phillyseaport.com.
Thank you so much,
Marilyn Torres
