Joanne B., a licensed veterinarian with 10 years of clinical experience, is the director of veterinary communications at the world's leading animal health company. During her course of study she completed the requirements for a bachelor's degree in food science and then obtained a doctor of veterinary medicine. Her career touches many areas of biomedical writing. She creates, designs, and edits written and visual communications aimed toward veterinarians, pet owners, farmers, ranchers, product resellers, and university and extension personnel. She also works with the marketing and research departments and advertising and public relations agencies to help reach these audiences. In addition, she reviews promotional material for scientific accuracy and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and assists the marketing and legal departments in challenging the validity of claims made by competitors. To further her education even more, she is pursuing a master's degree in biomedical writing from The University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.
