Sabir Mateen has been on the N.Y. music scene since his arrival in the Summer of 1989.
Sabir Mateen is also a writer of Poetry, Theactrical
Skits and plays.
He has performed with great Dancers Nami Yamamoto, Laurie
Hockman, Makiko Oka, Patricia Nicholson Parker, Sheryl
Wilson Bell, Nathan Whiting, Leena Conquest, Dor Greene,
Minako and many more.
He has formed other bands in the past such as True Guidance (A Philly group which included Raymond A. King &
Sheryl Bell), Meta-Music (A L.A.Collective w/ Aubrey Hart),
The AQuratet, Mammals Of Zod, The 188/Three ( w/ Matthew Heyner & David Nuss, Interplantery Creative Unit (I.C.U.
w/
Daniel Carter, Gary Miles, David Gould, Matthew Heyner and
Laurie Hockman Movement Of The Future Ark ( A Big Band)
and has other active bands as The East 3rd St Workshop
Ensemble w/ Matt Lavelle, David Gould, and newcomer bassist Clif Jackson.
Mateen has performed in the Phillipino Band Acoustic Maya,and the legendary Mike Hanopol also the Japanese Little Big
Band Sonota & The spoken Word Original '80's
Rap Band The New Afrikan Griots.
