Dealing in drivel

Re: "Talking heads blab on," by Patrick Patterson, Friday Letters.

Mr. Patterson's letter about Mark Davis warmed my heart.

Years ago, I had a tryout to be the host of the afternoon talk show on WOAI in San Antonio. I did one guest appearance as co-host, with good reviews. But I decided I could not in good conscience sit there day after day and dish out trite drivel and deal with the flakes that often call in on talk shows. Talk radio is, in large part, a vast wasteland – people with far-out theories and radical views arguing with a former disc jockey.
