My love of Labrador retrievers began in 1997 with an innocent statement by my husband.... "You know, Honey, I have always wanted to own a black lab."  (Sounded innocent enough at the time.)   That statement brought us to buy our first Labrador, "Hawkeye", a wonderful male black lab who tragically passed away after an accident at the young age of 4. However, even in that short time together, he left me with an appreciation for, not only, the beauty of labs but also their incredible intelligence and devotion.   After "Hawkeye's" passing, our home just wasn't the same so I set about looking for another Labrador retriever to share our lives.  Over the years, we have added many labs to our household and each one has taught me something new and exciting about this marvelous breed.  They greet everyday with joy and enthusiasim. A true "So what are we going to do today!"  attitude. Something we humans often need help remembering.  I look forward to our future together.   A final note about my philosophy. River Sage Labradors is NOT a business.  I have decided to breed Labradors because I think they are the greatest breed around and I am looking for puppies that I can take to the show ring. Therefore, I may only have one litter every few years. I also reserve the right to refuse to place a puppy with anyone who I think will provide a less than appropriate home for these babies.
