Dr. Richard F. Spiegle is a forensic and clinical psychologist, licensed in the State of Colorado with over twenty-five years of experience. He received his Doctor of Psychology degree from the University of Denver in 1979. He is a Board-certified Diplomate in Forensic Psychology, and a longstanding member of both the American Psychological Association and the Colorado Psychological Association. He is a frequent speaker at professional meetings and continuing legal educational seminars on various topics related to psychological and forensic issues. He continues his affiliation with his alma mater as a Clinical Associate Professor and has provided ongoing clinical supervision to graduate students for many years. His background, in addition to forensic practice, includes many years of consultation in such settings as Head Start, Federal Corrections, and Child Protection Services and for agencies serving the developmentally disabled. He has provided services as staff psychologist in a community mental health setting and he was the Coordinator of After-hours Emergency Services, Continuity of Care, and Hospital Services at the same agency. He completed mediation training at the nationally acclaimed Center for Dispute Resolution in Boulder, Colorado. Subsequent to that, he co-founded a professional mediation practice. Dr. Spiegle has been married for over 26 years and has seven children. He has lived in Colorado for over 34 years. |

| Leah Bassity, M.A. received her Masters in Clinical Psychology from the University of Colorado at Denver in May 2005. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma. Ms. Bassity assists Dr. Spiegle with various aspects of his practice, including family law cases, psychological evaluations, and competency evaluations with respect to elder law. She administers psychological testing to clients, conducts clinical and collateral interviews, reviews case material and relevant research, and compiles data into formal reports. She provides supervision for parents who require supervised parenting time with their children. She regularly attends professional training seminars; particularly those that pertain to domestic violence and child abuse, and she is a member of the Metropolitan Denver Interdisciplinary Committee. She has previously served as a mental health counselor in a residential treatment center for adults diagnosed with severe mental illness where she provided individual and group treatment, and has worked with children with autistic spectrum disorders. |

| Ioannis Ioannou, M.A. received his Masters in Forensic Psychology from the Graduate School of Professional Psychology at the University of Denver in June 2006. He received his B.A. in Psychology from the American College of Greece in Athens. Currently, he is working towards his Doctorate of Psychology Degree at the University of Denver. Mr. Ioannou provides therapy for adult, adolescent and child clients, supervised by Dr. Spiegle. In addition, he assists him in a variety of criminal and civil evaluations by conducting clinical interviews, administering psychological tests, as well as performing collateral interviews and case reviews. Mr. Ioannou has previously been employed in an inpatient facility providing therapeutic services for chronic psychiatric patients and has previous experience in the treatment of developmentally disabled clients. He is also training at the Veterans Affairs agency in Colorado Springs, Colorado and provides regular therapy, group psychotherapy and other psychological services to veterans. |

| Sandi Raitz is the Office Manager, and has been working with Dr. Spiegle since October 2004. Ms. Raitz previously worked as a legal secretary for over ten years, and was an administrative assistant in the banking and construction industries for several years. Ms. Raitz handles all of the administrative operations of the office and keeps the practice running smoothly. |

| Angela J. van der Walt, Psy.D. received her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Denver in August 2007. She obtained her Masters in Forensic Psychology from the University of Denver in May 2002. Dr. van der Walt completed her undergraduate degree in Applied Psychology from St. Cloud State University. She recently completed her APA accredited internship at the Rochester Federal Medical Center with the Bureau of Prisons. Dr. van der Walt assists Dr. Spiegle with various aspects of his practice including court appointed assessments of Parental Rights Evaluations, Special Advocate Evaluations, and Termination of Parental Rights Evaluations. In addition, she assists Dr. Spiegle with criminal evaluations for referring attorneys, which include psychological research relevant to mitigating and aggravating factors and psychological evaluations of the alleged perpetrator. Dr. van der Walt has previously served as a treatment provider and evaluator for convicted adult male sex offenders, conducted risk assessments for potential future violence, provided trauma treatment to refugees in South Africa, and conducted treatment and evaluations for individuals diagnosed with severe mental illness. | ![]() |

| Martha M. Woods, Ph.D., received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology With Honors in 1970, a Master of Science in Psychology in 1976, and her Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology in 1980 from the University of Kentucky. She completed her clinical internship at Fort Logan, now Colorado Mental Health Institute at Fort Logan, in 1977. She and Dr. Spiegle have worked together in a variety of settings since that time, beginning in 1977 at Arapahoe Mental Health Center. Since that time as a licensed psychologist, Dr. Woods has practiced in the area of behavioral health at Kaiser Permanente and St. Anthony Hospital, as well as in the private practice of clinical and consulting psychology. She has taught at the University of Denver, provided trial consulting, published in and served as an ad hoc reviewer for professional journals in the field, and served on the Colorado State Board of Psychologist Examiners. Dr. Woods has extensive experience in both inpatient and outpatient services as a Staff Psychologist at Denver Health Medical Center, focusing on behavioral health, consultation to primary care, training of medical residents and psychology interns, substance abuse treatment, dual diagnosis treatment, and evaluation/treatment of individuals with serious mental illness who are at risk of danger to self and others. Dr. Woods also focuses on organizational development, including team building and stress management. Currently, she and Dr. Speigle collaborate on the assessment of functional competence in a variety of forensic and non-forensic contexts; for example, the psychological assessment of ability for independent living, for managing personal affairs, and for writing a valid will. Dr. Spiegle and Dr. Woods also collaborate on the preparation of professional manuscripts for publication, research, and marketing efforts. |
