These are photographs taken
after the Santa Barbara earthquake of 1925
The Santa Barbara earthquake occurred at 6:45 on Monday June
29, 1925. The earthquake lasted about 19 second and caused about 15 million
dollars worth of damage, in then dollars, and took thirteen lives. The
magnitude was 6.3. A greater lost of live would have resulted had
the earthquake happened later in the day.
These pictures were taken by my Mother (Charlotte Ashworth
Hunter) shortly after the earthquake.
